The Baystate Marathon is an annual racing event in the city of Lowell, MA every October. Initiated in the year 1990, the Baystate Marathon is one of the flattest and fastest marathon courses in the northeastern United States. This fast course is often used by many runners to garner a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon.
It is well known as a race that is “For Runners – By Runners” and is one of the few remaining marathons fully hosted and executed by a running club rather than a for-profit company. The Greater Lowell Road Runners use the funds that are raised from the race to fulfill the mission of promoting and encouraging the sport of running through road races, fun runs, group training activities, lectures and social events.
Along with full marathon, it has a half marathon, half marathon relay and a 5km memorial run

All cash awards for the Full Marathon (only) are based on gun time as per USATF guidelines. Runners who are rewarded for their performance in a given group/position, are then excluded from further awards (i.e., one prize per person)
Age Group Awards:
Age group awards are granted based on net finish time for the Marathon and Half Marathon. Customized awards are shipped directly for age group winners

Important Points
- Registration: Once registration is complete, deferrals and cancellations are not allowed. But participant can transfer registration to another runner or donate their registration fees to the GLRR Youth Fund. They can also switch their registration from one event to the other.
- Discounts are offered to active and retired Military personnel
- Pacers are available
- Aid stations will be placed throughout the course with water and Gatorade. Gels would be available at limited aid stations
- Baggage check in available.
- Bib Collection: If someone else is picking the bib on the runners’ behalf, they need a copy of other person’s driver’s license.
- Time limits: There is an upper limit of 6 hours beyond which the course would be shut down
