Boston, US | April 21, 2025 | Registration closed |
The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon race held in the greater Boston area in Eastern Massachusetts, United States. It is usually held on Patriots’ Day which falls on the third Monday of April – hence also sometimes known as Marathon Monday. Inaugurated in 1897, the Boston Marathon is not only the world’s oldest annual marathon but is also one of the world’s best-known road racing events and one of six World Marathon Majors.
Organized by the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), the Boston Marathon was inspired by the success of the first marathon competition in the 1896 Summer Olympics and aims to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports especially running.
The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2021, it was held later, in October.
