The Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic road race, named after the Gasparilla Pirate Festival, is held in late February and early March in the Tampa Bay Area. The event spread over 2 days includes not only general races like a half marathon, a 15k race, a 5k run, etc but also challenges like Bud Light Setlzer Challenge and more runs.
The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, established in February 1978, is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for charitable youth organizations and running programs in the Tampa Bay area.
This mission is made possible by organizing the annual Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend, which is organized with the help, partnership, and cooperation of the City of Tampa and, Publix Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic and C.E. Mendez Foundation.
The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association has donated over $5.9 million to date to non-profit associations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, and The Friends of Tampa Recreation, and also supports youth non-profit and running-related programs throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Important Points
- Water and Lemon-Lime Gatorade endurance formula available at each station. Gatorade energy gels would also be available at limited aid stations for half marathon participants
- Medical and washroom facilities would also be available on the route/course as well at start point/ finish line of a race
- Time limits are applicable for all the races after which the course would be open for regular vehicular traffic. Runners/ walkers are expected to have a minimum pace of 16min/mile
- Seeded Athletes: Needs to be applied for through mail to organizers. Limited & on a first come and first served basis. Timing criterion applicable
