Established in 2008 by Carlton Ray in 2008, Indianapolis Monumental Marathon has evolved from just over 1,100 runners (in the inaugural run), to become one if the 20 largest marathons in the USA and is also named as one of the nine best ‘new’ US Marathon races in 2014 by Runners’ World. Starting with only Marathon race, the event now offers Half Marathon and 5K as well

The course for the race starts and ends near the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. Both the Marathon and Half Marathon are run concurrently – the races follow identical routes for the first six or so miles, split, then re-converge for the last 3 miles of the course. “A beautiful place to set your pace” is the tagline of the Monumental Marathon.
