The Los Angeles Marathon is a running event held annually in Los Angeles, California. Earlier known as the City of Los Angeles Marathon, the LA marathon was inspired by the 1984 Olympic Games hosted in LA. Being held since 1986, the Los Angeles Marathon has now become one of the largest marathons with over 25000 runners participating.
Asics is the official sponsor of the event since 2020.

*** LA Double Play Challenge also available: Participants needs to register and run in the Big 5K on Saturday and Full Marathon on Sunday. Registration needs to be done individually for both races

^^Unless entered through Students Run LA, participants must be 16 years or older on race day to enter. Participants younger than 18 years of age must have a parent /guardian present to pick up the participant’s race bib and sign the Event waiver.

Prize Money
Information about the prizes/ awards for the Los Angeles Marathon 2025 not yet available. Below are details from earlier event for reference . All prizes are equal for male & female athlete (except for Quincy Cass Associates Marathon Chase Bonus which is given to only one athlete)

Additionally, top 3 women and men are offered awards in each of the age groups categories. Overall Top 3 Non-Binary runners are also awarded
In addition to the above,
- The top 3 finishers in each age division will receive a commemorative award. (Age groups: 15 & under (SRLA only), 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over).
- All official finishers will receive a commemorative medal.
Points to note for prize money:
- All runners (Pro and Elite Age Group) starting in the “Pro” wave are eligible to win prize money. Age groupers starting in these waves are also eligible for age group awards. Prize money awards will be determined by gun times.
- Participants registered in the Elite Open Division will not be classified in their age groups and are not eligible to win age group awards.
- Participants registered in an age group division are not eligible to win prize money and will not be classified in the Elite Open Division.
- To facilitate the Quincy Cass Associates Marathon Chase Bonus challenge, the women’s Pro starting time will be set based on the expected men’s and women’s winning times estimated at approximately 18-minutes before the men’s Pro start.
- Official times for all participants not entered in the Elite Open Division will be the electronic timing device time (net time) from when the participant crosses the start line to the point where the participant crosses the finish line.

Important Points
1. Pace groups (from the Los Angeles Road Runners) would be available
2. There is no refund, transfer, or deferral policy.
3. The Active Experience App can be downloaded. Search for Los Angeles Marathon for runner tracking, GPS tracking, and more.
4. Runners meeting below mentioned time standards may elect to race in the Professional Division:
- Men: Full: <2:31:00 / Half: <71:00
- Women: Full: <3:00:00 / Half: <81:00
Age group runners meeting below mentioned time standards are eligible to start as Elite Age Group Athletes in the Pro Corral:
- Men: Full: <2:45 Half: <76:00
- Women: Full: <3:20 Half: <97:00
* Times (for Professional division & Elite group) must have been achieved within the previous 24 months from race day
** Election to race as a pro is made by emailing coordinator@mccourtfoundation.org with proof of time standard.
5. Qualifying times for seeded corrals are applicable. Participants also have the option of emailing a finisher certificate or screenshot of their race result to registration@mccourtfoundation.org for verification purposes.
6. Maximum race day finish time is applicable for Marathon – 6hrs & 30 min (15 minutes/mile pace). The Marathon course will reopen for public post this.
