HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon

The HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon is an annual Half-marathon organized in Sydney since 1992. Earlier organised by Marathon Series (and called the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon), race organization has recently been taken over by Runaway. The event has a fundraising initiative primarily targeted at Breast Cancer Network Australia

The course for the half marathon runs through Sydney’s central business district and takes the runners through iconic sites such as The Rocks, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The event has a capacity field of 10,500, but registrations/entries are often closed weeks before race day.

# Entry fees are inclusive of all fees & taxes. Fees for events are time –sensitive i.e. increases closer to race date.

@All participants between the age of 10 – 12 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the event and the accompanying adult takes full responsibility for the safety of the entrant 12 years or under. Participants over the age of 12 can complete the event without an adult accompanying them.

Important Points

The HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon follows the Athletics Australia rules for fair competition.
Athletes have option to register under (1) Open category, or (2) Submit an application to pre-qualify to run in a qualifying Start Group by writing to runawaysydney@theironmangroup.com. Read more about pre-qualification here
Refunds will only be issued for the entry fee where participation in the event is not appropriate due to medical reasons. Terms & conditions apply
Transfer to another distance is allowed. Terms apply
Start Groups: There are coloured start groups based on expected finish time.
Cut-off points: There are multiple cut-off times on the course and these are calculated from the time the last person crosses the Start Line.
Pacers would be available
Drink station & Toilet locations: Drinking stations would be available across the course with water available at all stations. Electrolyte and toilet facilities would be available at most (not all) drink stations. Water, Medical, and washroom facilities would also be available at the start point/finish line of the race.
Non-permissibles: No strollers, pushed wheelchairs, pets, bicycles, scooters, hand cycles, skateboards, or roller blades are permitted on the course.
Time limits are applicable for all the races after which the course would be open for regular vehicular traffic. Course closes at 11:30am
