The United States Air Force Marathon is an annual event held at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Established in 1997 the event is held on the third Saturday of September to celebrate the 50th Air Force Anniversary. The event includes a Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon and 10K race. The previous Friday to the main event also has a 5K race and a 1K kids run.
The US Air Force Marathon is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.

Important Points
- Refund: All race registrations and product purchases are non-refundable, even in the event of race cancellation.
– The only exception is for official military deployment (CED orders). Refunds WILL NOT be given for TDY or PCS orders. If participants are deployed during the race, they must send a copy of their CED orders to usaf.marathon@us.af.mil to receive a refund of their race registration
– Product purchases are still non-refundable.
– If the participant has already registered and can no longer participate, they can defer their registration to the following year - Deferrals: If you are registered for an upcoming race but can no longer participate, you may defer your registration to the following year. Product purchases will NOT carry over; only your race registration. Nominal charges are applicable
- Race Transfers: Transfer to a different event is possible by paying nominal charges
- Packet Pick Up
-Participants must pick up their packets at the Health & Fitness Expo.
-If you are unable to do so, you may do one of the following:
– (a) Have someone else pick up your race packet for you. To do so, you must fill out and sign a Bib Pick-Up Authorization Form and give it to your representative, along with a copy of your photo ID. Representatives without all three items will NOT be permitted to pick up your race packet, no exceptions.
-(b) Purchase the Race Day Packet Pick-Up option. You may purchase this as an add-on during your initial registration, or go back to our registration page and purchase it later by clicking Store. This option allows you to pick up your packet on Saturday. If this option is sold out, you must pick up your packet yourself or make arrangements for option 1 above. - Non allowable items: No animals, no strollers, no baby joggers, no bicycles, no scooters, no inline skates, no roller skates, and no wheeled vehicles (other than registered wheelchairs and official Bike EMS and Patrol Teams) will be allowed on the course. Strollers and baby joggers are allowed for the 5K event only.
- The Air Force Marathon relay takes place on the marathon course, with two relay exchanges at miles 8 and 17.
-Leg 1 relay participants start at the same time as the other marathoners – 7:30 a.m. There is not a separate start time for relay teams.
– Leg 2 and 3 relay participants will be bused to their respective relay exchange zone. They should report to the Relay Loading Zone near the start line on Springfield Drive.
