The Wineglass Marathon, a popular annual racing event in the Finger Lakes region of New York state, is a marathon held every October. It features a point-to-point course, Starting in Bath and finishing in Corning. Since its inception in 1981 with an initial participation of 291 runners, the Wineglass Marathon has gained widespread acclaim as a premier destination race. Its allure stems from the combination of a breathtaking, fast course, exquisite glass medals, and the warm hospitality extended by the local community.
Over time, the event has become synonymous with excellence, attracting participants from far and wide. Notably, the Wineglass Marathon received further recognition when it was voted the Best Marathon in New York State in 2018 by RaceRave. The picturesque route traverses charming small towns and scenic country roads, making it a favorite among runners. With its predominantly flat terrain, the course is known for its speed, allowing participants to achieve their best performances.
The Guthrie Wineglass Marathon is a USATF Certified Course & Sanctioned Event and used by many runners as a Boston Marathon Qualifier. It is also a qualifying race for The Abbott World Marathon Majors Global Run Club

In Addition to above the following would also be awarded
- Bonus: Course record bonus of $500 for Marathon (Open & Masters) and $250 for Half Marathon (Open & Masters)
- Marathon/ Half Marathon/ 5K: Top 3 finishers in each age group will receive a non-cash award.
Points to Note for Prize Purse
- Awards are equal for Male and Female participants
- Gun time calculates cash prizes while Age Group Awards will be calculated by “Chip Time”.
- Placement will be decided by the “highest” cash prize. For instance, if a Masters runner places 2nd or 3rd overall, then they would be placed in the Overall category due to the higher cash prize. A $500 cash bonus is awarded for breaking a course record

Important Points

- No refunds and no bib transfers
- Deferrals are not accepted beyond stated end date. Deferral fees is charged and is allowed only for 1 year. Event switching is allowed after paying switching fees. Please read Deferral Policy & Event Change Switching Policy here
- Event transfer: Registration of a runner can be transferred or switched by “upgrading” or “downgrading” by logging into the RunSignUp account and going to Profile > My Registered Races > Manage Registration > Transfer Event. A transfer fee would be levied. Additionally runner will also be charged the difference between the two races if any. Transfers from the half and full marathons to the Storflex 5K are not allowed.
- Event Insurance can be purchased at time of registration for a small additional fees
- Bib Pick up: A valid photo ID is needed to pick up your bib or confirmation email. If someone else is picking the bib, the person must show verification (confirmation number or a signed letter indicating your approval) and valid photo ID card
- No race day bib-pick allowed at start line. For runners unable to pick their bibs at Expo, bib pick up will be available on limited basis at the Corning Information Centre, 1 W. Market St., Corning, NY on race morning from 5am-6am
- Bus shuttles: All runners MUST take a bus from either Corning or Bath to the start line. For security and public safety reasons, no exceptions. Runners MUST have a bib when boarding a bus to the start line. Buses starting from Corning depart from Tioga Avenue (journey time 30min for Marathon and 15min for Half Marathon) while buses starting from Bath depart from Pulteney Park (journey time 5min for Marathon and 15min for Half Marathon).
- Pacers are available
- There would be aid stations and water stations located along the course providing water and electrolytes, washroom and medical facilities. Gels would also be available at limited stations
- Organizers offer runner tracking through RaceJoy!
- Time limit applicable on the course for after which the course is thrown open to normal traffic
